Terms of use

1. What Bowls Bias does

Bowls Bias is an independent guide to lawn bowls. We compare bowls across brands, publish a guide to the game, and offer a community-driven marketplace where bowlers can list and discuss bowls. We don't sell bowls ourselves and we're not affiliated with any manufacturer.

2. Your account

You can browse most of the site without an account. To list bowls, message other bowlers, save shortlists, or suggest spec corrections, you need to sign up. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for what happens under it.

You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. Once deleted, your profile and listings are removed, though anonymised quiz submissions and messages already sent to others may persist.

3. What you post

When you create a listing, profile, message, or suggest a spec correction, you keep ownership of what you wrote, but you give Bowls Bias permission to display it on the site so it can do its job (showing your listing to other users, surfacing your correction to admins, etc.).

Don't post anything illegal, misleading, abusive, infringing on someone else's rights, or that breaches platform fairness (fake listings, impersonation, etc.). We can remove content or accounts at our discretion if we believe these rules have been broken.

4. Buying and selling bowls

The marketplace is a way for bowlers to find each other. Bowls Bias doesn't handle payments, doesn't hold money in escrow, and doesn't verify the condition or legality of any bowl listed. Any transaction is strictly between buyer and seller. Use common sense: inspect bowls in person where possible, confirm stamp years for competition use, and meet safely.

5. Bowl specs and recommendations

Our bowl specs, recommendations, and quiz results are best efforts. We draw from manufacturer data and refine it with community corrections, but we can't guarantee every detail is perfect. Treat any recommendation as a starting point — nothing replaces rolling a bowl on your own greens before you commit.

6. Intellectual property

The Bowls Bias name, logo, design and editorial content are ours. Brand names, bowl model names, and manufacturer images referenced on the site remain the property of their respective owners. We use them under fair-dealing principles for comparison and reporting.

7. Things we don’t promise

We provide Bowls Bias as-is. We try hard to keep it accurate, available and useful, but we don't guarantee uptime, completeness, or that the site will be free from bugs. We're not liable for losses arising from your use of the site — including decisions you make based on the quiz, the catalogue, or any marketplace listing.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that can't legally be excluded.

8. Changes

We may update these terms occasionally — if we make a meaningful change, we'll note it at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW.
